Annual Meeting

Our Ski Club Annual General meeting held in November was attended by 14 skiers. Goals for the season and vandalism to the new warming hut were among topics discussed. Since the meeting we have had the privilege of welcoming Chris Deuster who has taken over as our new web master and joined the Ski Clubs board of directors.

Strong Winds

Last fall strong winds caused many trees to fall across the ski trails. We were thankful for the efforts of thirty volunteers from Sandilands and Charleswood Ski Club, who participated in our Trail Prep day in late October, and the efforts of a number of individuals who volunteered time on other days throughout the fall, to prepare the trails system for the ski season. Volunteers enjoyed community and were rewarded with a healthy snack.

Ski Season Opened

Our Ski Season ran from December 15 – March 09. A record number of skiers were attracted to Sandilands during the ski season. We were fortunate to develop a good snow base early in the season which allowed us to maintain good trails despite the infrequent snow falls.

The Jackrabbits Program had a great season at Quarry Oaks Golf course thanks to the volunteer coaching staff. Children participating in the program had the opportunity trail practice their skills learned in the program at Sandilands.

Sandilands Ski Day

The Sandilands Ski Day held late February was a great success. Sunny mild temperatures brought thirty eight participants to this event. After skiing participants enjoyed great food and fellowship.

Trail Upgrades

This season minor changes were made to the green trail to make grooming easier. For skier safety (You are Here) signs were posted and the Ski Club has purchased more signs for the trails.
